The wonderful blackcurrant berries, native to Europe and Asia have been consumed for centuries in various forms not only for their great taste but their health benefits too.

Blackcurrants contains high levels of antioxidant flavanoids known as anthocyanins, which help to fight free radicals, and are extremely high in Vitamin C.
In fact, according to Drugs.com, Blackcurrants were given to soldiers during World War II if and when Oranges became scarce, purely for their Vitamin C content.
