A strong brew usually served with milk, this blend of the black Chinese teas Keemun, Oolong and Lapsang Souchong was originally taken by camel to Moscow in exchange for furs. Once packed in cloth bags, it is said that the smoke from the camp fires of the traders permeated the tea, giving it a distinct smoky flavour.

Despite its name, Russian Caravan tea is actually a mixture of three single origin teas all comings from China. These teas are oolong, keemun and lapsang souchong, which come together to produce a strong brew.

Produced centuries ago for the Russian market, the name originates from the epic camel journeys made in the 18th century to transport this tea from China into Russia. These incredible journeys took between 6 months and 1 year to complete through extremely harsh and testing conditions. Nevertheless, the journeys were regularly made which goes to show just how special this tea is.

The best tea I have tasted. Strong, dark and slightly malty to my tastebuds.
